QUARTER CENTURY - 25 MILES
The quarter century route for the
3-State 3-Mountain Challenge was changed in 2005
from the previous years.
2006 Event day route:

Instead of starting with the 62 and 100 mile riders and
separating from them at the 4 mile point to ride an entirely different route, we
are going to transport the 25 mile riders and their bikes over to Shellmound
Campground and start their ride there. They will follow the last part of
the metric route and it will provide a simpler, more enjoyable route for the 25
mile riders and allow them to share the route of and return with the other
riders and enjoy the after ride pizza party. Those doing the 25 mile route
should be at the stadium at 9:30 with their bikes ready to go, where they will
be loaded onto a bus and truck and driven to the park.
We are keeping the old 25 mile route on this site because it is
such a good route for someone looking for a fairly short bike ride from the
downtown area.
Pre 2005 route:

The ride begins at the First Tennessee Pavilion, goes past the
Tennessee Aquarium and crosses the Walnut Street Bridge, an historic landmark restored as a
pedestrian bridge. The
bridge exits onto a busy road. Turn left here (don't go up the steep hill straight ahead). Work your way thru this busy area; it clears
out soon. Stay right at the fork and work your way over to Signal Mountain Road by going
through the tunnel. Just ride steady through the tunnel (don't attempt to use the sidewalk
- it is too narrow to walk or ride a bike on.)
Shortly after getting on Signal Mtn Blvd, the quarter century takes off
to the right on Lullwater Rd - immediately before the entrance ramp to Hwy 27. Follow the markings through a
residential neighborhood. Dog-leg across Morrison Springs Road to McCahill Road
and follow the Chattanooga Bicycle Club's "Red Bank Ride" for a short distance.
You will make a loop and then backtrack to Morrison Springs Road. Continue to
backtrack but soon after leaving Morrison Springs Road you will turn left, cross Dayton
Blvd and enjoy a nice tour through North Chattanooga back over the Walnut Street Bridge
and to the First Tennessee Pavilion.
