2000 Revisited
3 State Jersey

Date: Saturday, May 3, 2008 (rain or shine)

Ride Time: 100 and 62 miles riders leave at 8:00am
25 mile riders and their bikes leave Finley Stadium at 9:30 to be transported to Marion County Park.

Packet Pickup: You are strongly encouraged to pick up packets at Finley Stadium on Friday, May 2, 2008, between 2-10pm. Outdoor expo with shops and manufacturers will be at the Stadium for bargains and all the latest in gear and information.
Alternate packet pickup begins at 6:15 on Saturday morning

Meet: South side of Finley Stadium just down the street from the Days Inn and the Staybridge Hotels.

Fee: $40.00 (Note: Registration for the 2008 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge will close when the limit of 2500 riders is reached or on Apr 21, 2008, whichever is reached first. No refunds after April 13.)

Event Jersey: A top quality short sleeve jersey, 15" invisible zipper, side panels will be available for the event. $50.00 if postmarked by April 21, 2008 - $60.00 thereafter, including the day of the ride.

NOTE: 700 Jerseys in various sizes will be ordered. The jersey order must be placed in early February so only those who have ordered a jersey by that date are guaranteed to have the correct size and option available at the event. There will be a  limited number of extras ordered and these will be assigned as the application is received.  A reorder will be made after the ride only if there are enough orders to warrant it.  These jerseys will be mailed as soon as received – approx 8-10 weeks.

Socks: 2007 was the 40th anniversary of the Chattanooga Bicycle Club and 20th anniversary of the 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge. Commemorative socks from 2007 will be for sale at the Expo on Friday and at the stadium on event day.

Discounts: $5.00 discount for up-to-date Chattanooga Bicycle Club members only. In an effort to hold the cost at the same $40 as the previous several years, we have discontinued the team and tandem discount. We still encourage you to list your team name and it will be posted with your name on the 'Registration by State' page.

Amenities: Quality t-shirt; support vehicles; restrooms/showers available; sag stops will feature snacks, beverages & port-a-potties or restrooms; sweep service for all options; professional picture option by 'Birds Eye View', recognition for surviving the Challenge, food after the ride, Outdoor Expo at the packet pick up on Friday evening. All participants who check in after the ride will be posted on the CBC web.

Along the Route: Remember that this route is open to traffic.

  • At all times, stay in the correct lane of the road and obey all traffic laws. In several places there will be traffic control waving you through. Traffic may be restricted somewhat on Suck Creek Mountain, but it will not be closed - there will be some vehicles on the road in both directions. In all other areas, you are a part of regular traffic and should act accordingly.
  • Please do not use Ipods or other devises that may restrict your hearing! This is a danger to yourself as well as all the others on the ride.
  • If you must use your phone, please get completely off the road. Again, this is a danger to all others on the ride as well as yourself.
  • Personal sags are asked to take alternate routes on several of the mountain ascents and descents. Suggested alternate routes will be provided. Ask for them at the packet pickup table.

25 Mile Route: We will transport the 25 mile riders and their bikes over to the Marion County sag stop and start the ride there. This will follow the last part of the metric route and will provide a simpler, more enjoyable  route for the 25 mile riders. Those doing the 25 mile route should be at the stadium at 9:30, with their bikes, where they will be loaded onto a bus and truck and driven to the park.

'Birds Eye View' Photographs: We are really excited that 'Birds Eye View' photography has agreed to handle the photography at our event. This is the same group that has done 'Mt Mitchell' for the past several years and many other well known events in the outdoor world.

After Ride Food: Again there will be food and more at the end of the ride.

Packet Pickup - Outdoor Expo: Friday night we will be set up at Finley Stadium along with manufacturers, shops and other cycling related booths.  You are highly encouraged to pick up your packets on Friday to relieve congestion on Saturday morning. Join in the fun, see the latest and greatest and maybe even find a few bargains or learn about a different sport. Special effort is being made this year to make this an event in itself with food, music and lots of fun.

Host Hotels: We will have a choice of convenient host hotels this year to accommodate the number of participants staying in Chattanooga and offer a choice of locations and costs. Please go to the 'Accommodations' page for all the details.

Other activities going on in Chattanooga during the weekend of the 3-State: There are free electric shuttles running throughout downtown. The Chattanooga Open Air Market - all items will be natural or handmade - no commercial items allowed - will be open at the First Tennessee Pavilion across from the Stadium on Sunday.

Please Note: The 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge is NOT a race. Just to finish is it's own reward.

All riders will be required to wear helmets!
